Operating principle of gyro repeater system

Operating principle of gyro repeater system

Mechanised compass card.
Driven by stepper motor.

Construction:
Consists of transmitter and receiver unit.
Each unit consists of primary rotating rotor.
Three secondary coil are located at 120 degrees interval on stators.
Transmitter rotor is driven by azimuth gear of gyro.

Working principle:
AC is supplied to transmitter rotor and three secondary coil to produce EMF.
EMF causes current to flow around three circuit.
Each current produce a magnetic field around receiver coil.
Resultant error signal is induced in receiver rotor.

If transmitter rotor and receiver rotor is not synchronized – an error signal.
If transmitter rotor and receiver rotor is synchronized – no error signal.
