Magnetic degaussing

Decreasing or eliminating a permanent magnetic field.
It is not possible to reduce a parmanent magnetic field completely to zero.
Technically create an opposite magnetic field known as Bias.

Purposes
Establish a neutral condition of parmanent magnetic field near the ship.
Reduce the possibility of detonation of dynamite or mine.

Application on Ship
Electromagnetic coil.
Electrical cable is coiled around the ship.
Technically create an opposite magnetic field known as Bias.
In degaussing, magnetic field is devided into – vertical, horizontal F&A, horizontal athwartship.
In degaussing, positive direction is considered towards downside, forward, port side.
